Virgin Trains East Coast launches East Coast Main Line service

2 March 2015

The operation of the East Coast Main Line is back in the hands of the private sector today (Monday, 2nd March) after being operated publicly for more than five years.

The route will be operated by Virgin Trains East Coast, a new franchise made up of a partnership between Stagecoach and Virgin. The first train bearing the new livery leaves London King’s Cross at 11am on 2nd March, heading for Edinburgh.

The line will serve some of the UK’s best cities – between London and Edinburgh, you can stop at Leeds, York, Newcastle and Durham as well as many more on the way.

Remember, as always, you can get your Virgin Trains East Coast tickets via our tickets purchasing service on our homepage.
