We know, it’s only just been half term, but the summer holidays will be here before you know it and everyone knows it’s easier and cheaper to book everything in advance (so you should book train tickets now!). Brighton Beach, East Sussex
Beach goers across the UK flock to Brighton Beach every year as soon as the sun peeps through the clouds. With colourful beach huts, a pebbled shoreline and plenty of tourist attractions, there is lots to do in Brighton. You can reach the beach in just 20 minutes from the train station, which has regular trains coming in from London, Bristol and Bedford.
Whitby Beach, Yorkshire
Home of the donkey ride and the goth festival, Whitby is a typical “bucket and spade” beach. If you dare to climb the cliffs, you will have beautiful views of the sea, the Abbey, piers and more. Best of all, the beach is, at most, a 10 minute walk from the train station! What more can you want?
Bournemouth Beach, Dorset
Simple put, Bournemouth beach is Brighton, but with sand. Travel here for the perfect mix of seaside charm, with a cosmopolitan city centre. There’s always something to do in Bournemouth, no matter the weather. The beach is only a short walk from the train station in the town centre.
Crosby Beach, Liverpool
If you enjoy long walks and stunning views, Crosby beach is the perfect place for you to visit this summer. Along this coastline, there are 100 life-size figures sculpted from cast iron, for you to find on your stroll. Get the train to Waterloo along the Merseyside Line and you’ll be at this stunning destination within 20 minutes.
Troon Beach, Ayrshire
Everyone knows that Scotland has impressive coastal views, and Troon beach is no exception. Located just five minutes from the train station, there’s plenty to do here with a fish market along the harbour and enough sand to fill your bucket 100 times over. Bring a big enough picnic and you’ll be set for the day.
Castle Beach, Tenby
If you take a 10 minute stroll from Tenby Train Station, you will come across the ruins of Tenby Castle, sitting on a rocky island out to sea. This beach is perfect for the historian and the child’s imagination alike, there are also two more beaches in close proximity, so you’ll not be without sand or sea!
