Hunt for Easter Eggs with Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter!
Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday (30th March, 1st April, 2nd April) provide the perfect opportunity for a fun-packed family weekend away, and where better to take the train than the home of one of the most famous rabbits in the UK.
Family friendly fun in the Lake District
The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is located the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, surrounded by stunning views of the Lake District National Park. It is easily accessible by train from Windermere train station, with a short 10 minutes bus journey.
The attraction boasts interactive experiences that bring the stories of Peter Rabbit and his friends to life, including the beautiful Peter Rabbit garden and virtual walks. This Easter weekend the kids can join the mini egg hunt in the gardens, have a Beatrix Potter tea party and get their photo taken with the rabbit himself. The attraction isn’t the only Beatrix Potter themed venue in Windermere though! Along with the gift shop in the town centre, you can also visit Beatrix Potter’s 17th-century farmhouse ‘Hill Top House’, ran by the National Trust.
To get there without a car you will need to board the short ferry across the stunning Windermere lake and enjoy the two-mile hike to Hill Top House.
Once there, you can imagine Beatrix writing her stories in the quaint English cottage-garden and follow in the footsteps, paws and claws of her favourite characters. Enjoy the weekend-long Cadbury egg hunt as you follow the clues around the famous garden!
Whichever attraction you visit, or even if you don’t visit any, Windermere is still a beautiful part of the Lake District and boasts stunning walks, views and a variety of accommodation from cosy cottages to campsites and Bed ’n’ Breakfasts. It’s the perfect family fun destination if you’re hopping mad about Easter.
