How to have a more pleasant train ride

27 February 2017

So far, we’ve told you every which way to purchase cheap train tickets on our Twitter and Facebook page. Did we mention that there are ways to enhance your experience when you take the train, too?

Keep the area around your feet clear

There is plenty of space above you in the overhead storage to put laptop cases and hand luggage to give your legs that extra bit of breathing room. Don’t worry if you only have a large suitcase – there are bigger storage spaces at either end of each carriage!

Reserve a seat (when you book in advance)

You’re able to reserve seats when you book your tickets. If you’re specifically travelling for business, you could choose to sit next to a plug socket to charge your electronic devices.

You can also choose to sit in the aisle seat so you can easily get up and stretch your legs. If you ever experience motion sickness, you can also opt to face forward. Finally, you can reserve a seat at a table, so if you’ve got a long train journey ahead, you can enjoy some food and drinks with ease.

Why not head to the quiet coach?

If you prefer some peace and quiet when you travel, or you need to prepare for a meeting on your journey, the quiet coach is the space for you. This place is so serene that on many trains headphones and mobile phones are restricted in these areas. It’s an easier place for you to relax, read or catch a few ’z’s before stepping off at the other end.

If you have any more tips for us, let us know! We hope you enjoy the train ride wherever you’re going!
