Don’t leave it too late – Superb shopping locations in the UK

Queues that are out of the door, slim-pickings for presents, clammy conditions and the bitter realisation that Grandma’s Marks and Spencer’s talcum powder set will be half-price in a couple of weeks.

The seasonal last-minute shopping haul is always hellish – so why do we leave it so late and why are some of us repeat offenders?

It’s wrong to assume that everybody hates Christmas shopping and the January sales – some may love the adrenaline rush and the spectacle of town centres around this time of year.

Although this list of shopping venues can’t promise minimal queuing – it can offer you great gifts and guarantee a more pleasant experience than your local high street.

If it’s next week, Christmas Eve or the January sales, these superb shopping locations should be on your agenda – and they’re all accessible by public transport!

Leeds Corn Exchange, Leeds:

The grade I listed Corn Exchange in Leeds houses a selection of beautiful independent shops, salons and cafes.

You can marvel at the history, but you’ll stay for the shopping experience.
