You’ll forgive us for getting excited about this one, because it’s so rare that new railway lines are constructed in the UK, but the Borders railway is entering its final phase of construction.
It is expected to take a further seven weeks to complete this phase, which will see material excavated during construction taken from the Ferniehirst area through Stow to Falahill.
The first passenger train due to make a journey along the route is expected on 6th September, from Tweedbank to Edinburgh.
When it launches, remember you’ll be able to buy train tickets for the Borders railway from our homepage.
