On the train, the friendly staff can serve you drinks and take your orders before arriving at the restaurant, situated within the station itself, where a lovely meal awaits you.

The once bread and butter of the land is embedded in the city’s infrastructure to this day. The Victoria Tunnel was built in the 19th century and used as a wagonway to carry coal from the Town Moore to the Tyne River. You can tour the tunnel for just £7 per person.

Today the library is host to an array of events, lectures and tours that you can attend for free or for a small entry fee. The building itself has an impressive interior, tucked away on Westgate Road – you would barely notice it from the outside.
